Materuni Waterfalls & Coffee Tour
A moderate hike to a 90-metre waterfall on Kilimanjaro's lower slopes, followed by a hands-on coffee tour at a local Chagga farm — from bean to cup.
Waterfalls, hot springs, coffee farms, and Maasai villages — all reachable from Moshi or Arusha and back in a single day. Perfect for a rest day before a Kilimanjaro climb, a spare afternoon before your safari, or a standalone day of exploring. Full trip breakdown, pricing, and what to expect. Updated for the 2026/2027 season.
What a Tanzania day trip is
Moshi and Arusha sit at the centre of some of northern Tanzania's most rewarding short excursions — waterfalls fed by Kilimanjaro's glacial meltwater, natural hot springs shaded by fig trees, working coffee farms on the mountain's lower slopes, and Maasai villages happy to share their way of life. None of them require the multi-day commitment of a safari or a climb.
Day trips work well in three situations: as a rest or acclimatization day before a Kilimanjaro climb, as a way to fill a spare day before or after a safari, or simply as a standalone day of exploring for travellers not doing either. All are run as small-group or private tours with transport, a guide, and entry fees included.
Most of the day trips below are within one to two hours of Moshi, meaning they can often be added onto an existing itinerary with a single phone call rather than requiring separate planning.
