The circuit, mapped
The route runs Arusha → Tarangire → Ngorongoro Conservation Area → Serengeti → Ngorongoro Crater → Arusha, roughly 700 kilometres in total, timed so each park gets a genuine, unhurried block of game-driving time.
Why this route
This is the most established way to see Tanzania's northern circuit in a single trip: Tarangire for elephant herds and baobab scenery, the Serengeti for open plains and resident wildlife density, and Ngorongoro Crater for the most concentrated Big Five viewing in Africa on the way back. It's a faster pace than a 6 or 7-day safari, but the route is built to avoid feeling rushed — two full nights in the Serengeti mean a genuine full day of game driving there, not a single afternoon.
